Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Jyon Trayson Nateshun Collins, 18, (DOB: 09/18/2003), of Detroit, in connection with a fatal car crash that killed a six-year-old girl, of Dearborn Heights.

On November 7, 2021, at approximately 2:50 p.m., it is alleged that the defendant was driving southbound on Bingham Street, when he struck the child. The child was crawling under a car and another car parked behind it obstructed the defendant's view of the victim. After hitting the child victim, the defendant fled from the scene. The child was transported to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased. Investigation by the Dearborn Police Department led to the arrest of the defendant on November 10, 2021.

Jyon Trayson Nateshun Collins has been charged with one count of Failure to Stop at the Scene of an Accident Causing Death, a five-year felony and one count of Driving While License Suspended, a misdemeanor. *

He was arraigned this afternoon in 19th District Court and given a $50,000/10% bond. The defendant was given a GPS tether and placed on house arrest. He is only allowed to leave for school, work, or legal appointments.

The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for November 24, 2021 and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for December 3, 2021 in 19th District Court before Judge Mark Somers. Please request a photograph of the defendant from the Dearborn Police Department.
