Detroit Man Charged in Fatal Hit and Run
On June 11, 2023, Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Marcus Deshawn Rooker, 46, of Detroit, in connection with a car crash that killed Roosevelt Outlaw, 41, also of Detroit.
On June 11, 2023, at approximately 3:47 a.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to the intersection of East Seven Mile Road and Hoover Street for a reported auto accident. Upon their arrival, officers were flagged down by bystanders to a residence in the 19320 block of Annott Street where they discovered Mr. Outlaw lying unresponsive in the road. Medics arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
It is alleged that while fleeing the scene of an accident, Defendant Rooker struck Mr. Outlaw, fatally injuring him.
Marcus Deshawn Rooker has been charged with Reckless Driving Causing Death, and Failure to Stop at the Scene of an Accident - Causing Death. *
He was arraigned on July 1, 2023, in 36th District Couty before Magistrate Laura Echartea, and given a $100,000 cash bond. His next court date is a Pre-Trial on November 3, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., before Judge Margaret Van Houten in Third Circuit Court.
