Detroit Man Charged In Homicide Of Nephew
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged James Lee Graham, 48 (DOB: 08/11/1968), of Detroit, in connection with the fatal shooting of his 16-year-old nephew, Freeland Pridgen.
On November 25, 2016 at approximately 4:17 p.m., Detroit Police officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 9100 block of Ward in Detroit. It is alleged that defendant Graham and Pridgen got into a verbal altercation. During the argument, it is further alleged that Graham retrieved a shotgun from another room and it is alleged the gun discharged, striking the victim. Pridgen was transported to a local hospital for treatment but he succumbed to his injuries the following day.
Graham has been charged with Open Murder, FIP, and FF.* He was arraigned on the warrant today in 36th District Court. The probable cause conference is scheduled for December 7, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for December 13, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Shannon Holmes in 36th District Court.
*The charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
