Detroit Man Charged With Stealing Car With Infant Inside
Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Donald Javar Moorlet-Porter, 17 (DOB: 6/29/98), of Detroit, in connection stealing a car with three-month old infant inside. It is alleged that on May 16, 2016 at midnight, the father of the child left his daughter in his running vehicle and went into a store on Harper Street. It is alleged that shortly thereafter, Moorlet-Porter stole the car, drove away from the store with the child in the car, and later left it on the porch of a home in the 9100 block of Lakepointe, without regard for the child's safety.
The defendant was charged and arraigned earlier today with Unlawful Driving Away of an Automobile and Child Abandonment. The probable cause conference is scheduled for June 3, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. in 36th District Court before Judge Gregory Bill. The preliminary examination is scheduled for June 9, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. The defendant received a $30,000/10% bond.
