Detroit Woman Charged In Carjacking Of 74-Year-Old Woman
Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Lawanda A. Hampton, 27, (DOB: 3/12/69) of Detroit, with Carjacking, Armed Robbery and Felony Firearm. On October 23, 2016 at 10:15 a.m. at East Canfield and Moran in Detroit, the defendant asked the victim for a ride home. Fearing that she would be shot, the victim exited the car and the defendant drove away. Investigation by the Detroit Police led to the apprehension of Hampton on Tuesday, October 25, 2016.
Hampton was arraigned today in 36th District Court and received a $250,000 cash/surety bond. Her probable cause hearing is scheduled on November 3, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. and her preliminary examination is on November 9, 2016 at 9:00 a.m., both before Judge Kenneth King.
