Detroit Police Officer Myron Jarrett – The warrant request for a male suspect in the fatal car crash that killed Officer Jarrett is currently being reviewed. It is expected that the review will be completed and the case will be charged in time for the suspect to be arraigned at 2:30 p.m. at 36th District Court today.

Hamtramck Couple Charged in Death of 16-Month-Old Infant
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Christopher Scott Olinger, 23 (DOB: 10/01/1993) and Asia Markham, 27, (DOB: 08/14/1989), both of Hamtramck, with the death of Amina Markham, Asia Markham’s 16-month-old infant daughter. It is alleged that on October 25, 2016 at approximately 11:32 a.m., Hamtramck Police responded to a 911 call in the 2600 block of Commor in Hamtramck, where they found Asia Markham outside holding her infant daughter, who was unresponsive. Medics transported the infant to a nearby medical facility where she was pronounced dead. Further information on the case will be presented at the preliminary examination.
Olinger and Markham have been charged with First Degree Murder and Child Abuse First Degree. Both defendants were arraigned on Saturday and were remanded to jail. Their probable cause conference is scheduled for November 10, 2016 and their preliminary examination is scheduled for November 17, 2016 before Judge Alexis G. Krot in 31st District Court in Hamtramck.

Lincoln Park Man Charged in Fatal Car Crash Killing Detroit Police Officer Myron Jarrett
Prosecutor Worthy has charged Steven Guzina, 54 (DOB: 3/16/62) of Lincoln Park, in connection with the fatal car crash that killed Detroit Police Officer Myron Jarrett, 40. On October 28, 2016 at approximately 10:30 p.m., Officer Jarrett was on duty at Monica and Puritan assisting other officers in an investigation of two cars that were involved in an accident. It is alleged that Guzina was in the area driving at a high rate of speed under the influence of intoxicants with a 43-year-old female Detroit passenger in his car. It is further alleged that when Guzina attempted to pass the accident investigation, he struck and killed Officer Jarrett. The defendant fled the location but was arrested by Detroit police officers a short time later at a bus stop at Grand River and Schaefer.
Guzina has been charged with one count each of the following charges: Second Degree Murder; Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) Causing Death; OWI Causing Serious Bodily Injury; Failure To Stop At Scene Of Accident, When At Fault Resulting in Death; Reckless Driving Causing Death; and Reckless Driving Causing Serious Impairment of A Body Function.
Prosecutor Worthy said, "The death of Officer Jarrett is yet another very tragic result of a person allegedly driving under the influence of intoxicants taking a life. There have been public service announcements and activism about this for decades. There are probably people driving under the influence at this very moment. Who knows when this will stop?"
Guzina was arraigned today in 36th District Court at 2:30 p.m. He was remanded to jail. The probable cause conference is on November 11, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. and his preliminary examination is on November 18, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are Judge Lydia Nance Adams in 36th District Court.

Andrea Sheppard Charged in Connection with Shooting House on Greydale
On October 24, 2016, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Andrea Ariel-Jones Sheppard, 28 (DOB: 06/26/1988), of Waterford, Michigan in connection with the non-fatal shooting in Detroit. It is alleged that on October 21, 2016, Sheppard fired a weapon into a home she purchased from the Detroit Land Bank, located in the 16000 block of Greydale in Detroit, while holding her infant daughter and in the presence of her eight-year-old son.
Sheppard was charged while she was not in police custody with one count of CCW and one count of Reckless Use of a Firearm. Arrangements were made by the Detroit Police Department for the defendant to be arraigned in 36th District Court today. The probable cause conference is scheduled for November 8, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for November 14, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. Both hearings are before Judge Lydia Nance Adams in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $10,000 personal bond.

Jason Alan Boyce - Detroit man charged in the fatal stabbing of a man after a dispute at a marijuana grow operation located on South Green Street in Detroit. Boyce had his probable cause conference today in 36th District Court and was referred to the Forensic Center for Competency and Criminal Responsibility evaluations. His next court date is on February 2, 2017.

Roseville Man Charged in Ceasefire Advocate’s Homicide
Floyd Darnell Nix, 35 (DOB: 7/5/91)* of Roseville, MI has been charged with First Degree Murder, Felony Firearm and Felon in Possession of a Firearm in connection with the fatal shooting of Jeremaine Tilmon, 39, of Detroit.
On November 3, 2016 at approximately 2:30 a.m., Tilmon was standing talking in front of his long time friend’s house in the 3600 block of Chatsworth Tilmon had a brief encounter with Nix when it is alleged that Nix shot Tilmon while he was unarmed and holding both his hands up in the air. Tilmon was known as a Ceasefire advocate in Detroit and was the step-father to Davontae Sanford.
The defendant was arraigned remanded to jail today. His probable cause conference is on November 15, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. and his preliminary examination is on November 23, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. before Judge Lydia Nance Adams. His photograph is attached.
*Note: Defendant’s date of birth is reported in the police report on the Tilmon case as 7/5/91 however other records list it as 7/5/81.
