Three Detroiters Charged And Arraigned In Memorial Day Armed Robbery Of U.S. Service Members
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged three Detroit males in the Armed Robbery of four U.S. Service Members. It is alleged that on May 30, 2016, at approximately 12:10 p.m., four U.S. Service Members, ages 28, 26, 19 and 21, were robbed by three armed men in the area of Santa Maria and Meyers in the City of Detroit. The three defendants charged in this case are Anthony Jonvion Smith (DOB: 06/11/1996), Jawan Spears (DOB: 12/15/1996) and Mark Hansford (DOB: 02/13/1995), all from Detroit.
All three defendants are charged with four counts of Armed Robbery, one count of Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery and Felony Firearm. Defendant Smith is also charged with Felon in Possession; Defendant Hansford is additionally charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
The defendants were arraigned May 31, 2016. A probable cause conference is scheduled for June 8, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for June 13, 2916 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before 36th District Court Judge Kenneth King. Defendants Smith and Hansford each received a $100,000 cash/surety bond; Defendant Spears received a $250,000 cash/surety bond.
