Van Buren Man Charged In Assault Of Girlfriend
Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged has charged Frank Stanchulski, 31 (DOB: 12/12/84), of Romulus, in connection with the assault of his 30-year-old girlfriend. On August 28, 2016 at 8:45 p.m., the Van Buren Township Police and Fire received a 911 call from a woman and were dispatched to a car fire near a location in the 10700 block of Belleville Road. It is alleged that Stanchulski poured gasoline on his girlfriend and used a lighter to ignite her, but was unsuccessful. He then poured gasoline in her car and set it on fire and fled from the area.
The defendant has been charged with Arson Fourth Degree, Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, Felonious Assault and Domestic Violence. The defendant was arraigned in 34th District Court and received a $100,000/10% bond. His probable cause conference is scheduled for September 7, 2016 and his preliminary examination is scheduled for September 14, 2016, both at 9:00 a.m. in 34th District Court.
