Throughout Wayne County, more than 800 Meals On Wheels volunteers prepare and deliver healthy meals and companionship to approximately 6,000 homebound seniors every weekday. Meals On Wheels is a vital program that not only provides essential nutrition for seniors who depend on that daily delivery, but is also oftentimes the only source of direct human contact that they can look forward to on a regular basis.

That's why, as a way to support Wayne County's Meals On Wheels program, Wayne County Senior Services this year is asking residents to consider participating in Amazon Smile throughout the holiday season whenever they make a purchase via their Amazon account.

"Please know that our department truly appreciates your support on this. Today is Cyber Monday! Thank you!" said Wayne County Senior Services Director Lisa Whitmore Davis.

Amazon Smile is a simple way to make a valuable charitable donation while making sure to help senior citizens in need at the same time.

"Meals On Wheels means so much to so many in Wayne County, and not just to older adults who are affected directly but their families as well. Donations to our program help us to support our community, and the more who participate in Amazon Smile this holiday season, the more we can do to support the overall wellness of seniors in Wayne County," said Whitmore Davis.

Amazon Smile is a program that donates 0.5% of all eligible purchases on Amazon to a charity of your choice. To participate:

· Go to smile.amazon.com.

· Search for Senior Coordinating Aging Network of Wayne County in the Charity Search Bar.

· Click 'Select' to set up Senior Coordinating Aging Network of Wayne County as the charity of choice.

· Begin shopping. There is no extra cost to the Amazon account holder, and there is no need to set up a separate account.

"This does more than put a smile on their faces. This helps to improve the quality of their lives," said Whitmore Davis.
