Detroit Man Charged in Homicide of Infant Daughter
Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Charles Evans, 24, of Detroit, in connection with the homicide of nine-month-old Kinsley Evans. Defendant Evans is the father of the infant.
On June 26, 2023, at approximately 11:16 a.m., at a residence in the 12200 block of Schaefer Highway in Detroit, it is alleged that Defendant Evans fatally assaulted the victim. Medics arrived on the scene and transported Kinsley to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased. More complete facts and evidence will be placed on the record in court at the Preliminary Examination.
Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of the defendant on March 16, 2024.
Charles Evans has been charged with Felony Murder and First-Degree Child Abuse.*
"Baby Kinsley lived a very short life of pain. The alleged facts are unbelievably tragic in this case. The injuries inflicted on this nine-month-old baby are too numerous to fathom," said Prosecutor Kym Worthy.
He was arraigned and remanded to jail on March 17, 2024, in 36thDistrict Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for March 27, 2024, and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for April 3, 2024, before Judge Kenneth King.
