Detroit Man Charged in Non-Fatal Car Crash
Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Benjamin Noah Weinstein, 42, of Detroit, in connection with a car crash that damaged a 53-year-old Detroit woman's fence, a 63-year-old Detroit man's fence, and a community center in the 4400 block of Conner Street in Detroit.
On August 19, 2023, at approximately 12:45 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a building in the 4400 block of Conner Street for reports of a man who ran his vehicle into a building. Upon their arrival, officers observed the defendant being restrained on the ground.
It is alleged that Defendant Weinstein was driving erratically at a high rate of speed when he damaged that 53-year-old and 63-year-old victims' fences. It is also alleged that Defendant Weinstein positioned his vehicle in front of the community center's front doors before crashing into the building. Medics arrived on the scene and transported the defendant to a local hospital for treatment.
Benjamin Noah Weinstein has been charged with, one count of Felonious Assault, one count of Malicious Destruction of Property - $1,000 or More, but Less Than $20,000, one count of Carrying a Concealed Weapon and two counts of Felony Firearm. *
He was arraigned on August 21, 2023, in 36th District Court and given a $10,000 cash/surety bond with a GPS tether. A Bond Re-Determination Hearing is scheduled for August 23, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., before Judge William McConico. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for September 1, 2023, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for September 6, 2023, at 8:30 a.m., before Judge Aliyah Sabree.
