Detroit Man Charged in Robbery of Grosse Pointe Farms Grocery Store
Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Harold Edward Smith, 53, of Detroit, in connection with the armed robbery of a grocery store.
On February 15, 2024, at approximately 7:42 a.m., at a grocery store in the 18300 block of Mack Avenue in Grosse Pointe Farms, it is alleged that the defendant entered the store and stole multiple bottles of alcohol. When Smith left the store, he was confronted by an employee and Smith pointed a fake handgun at him before fleeing the scene. Investigation by the Grosse Pointe Farms Public Safety Department led to the arrest of the defendant on February 18, 2024.
Harold Edward Smith has been charged with Armed Robbery.*
He was arraigned this morning in Grosse Pointe Farms Municipal Court, before Judge Charles T. Berschback, and given a $150,000 cash/surety bond. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for February 28, 2024, at 12:00 p.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for March 6, 2024, at 11:30 a.m., before Judge Charles T. Berschback.
