Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Tiffanie Monique Edwards, 29, of Detroit, with the fatal stabbing of 50-year-old Detroit woman. On August 26, 2015 at 3:30 p.m., it is alleged that Edwards was riding on a Detroit bus at West Grand Boulevard and Rosa Parks when she got into a verbal argument that escalated into a physical assault of the 50-year-old victim. Edwards stabbed the woman about the face and the body with a knife. When the bus stopped, Edwards fled on foot. The victim was taken to a local hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.

A passenger on the bus took a video of the incident that the Detroit Police Department submitted to local news outlets. A tip was called in that assisted the police in identifying and apprehending Edwards.

Prosecutor Worthy said, "We are currently trying to move our Region forward by expanding modes of transportation for our citizens and visitors. This alleged and senseless violence will not be tolerated. We have charged this defendant with Murder in the First Degree and if convicted, she will serve the rest of her life in prison."

Edwards is expected to be arraigned in 36th District Court at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2015.
