Ecorse High School Student Charged with Possession of Weapon on School Property
Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged a 17-year-old juvenile male, of Detroit, in connection with the possession of a weapon on school property.
On December 1, 2022, at approximately 10:22 a.m., Ecorse police officers were dispatched to Ecorse High School for reports of a student who brought a weapon into the school. Upon their arrival, officers made contact with the juvenile.
It is alleged that the juvenile respondent brought a gun inside of a backpack onto school property.
The juvenile respondent has been charged with one count of Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and one count of Possession of a Weapon in a Weapons-Free School Zone. *
The Preliminary Hearing was held this afternoon at the Lincoln Hall of Justice. The Juvenile was given a $4,000/10% bond and cannot have possession of weapons, no illegal substance use, and no contact with Ecorse High School. His Pre-Trial is scheduled for January 5, 2023, at 9:30 a.m., before Judge Edward Joseph.
