Former Westland Police Officer and Carleton Man Charged in Wyandotte Bar Incident
Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged former Westland Police Officer Shawn Dennis Davidson, 52, of New Boston, and Gregory Jay Tittle, 53, of Carleton, MI, in connection with an incident at a bar in the 110 block of Oak Street in Wyandotte.
On April 22, 2023, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Davidson and Tittle were together at the bar while Davidson was off duty. It is alleged that Tittle and Davidson's conduct in the bar led to Davidson being told to leave by staff, but he refused. Wyandotte Police were called, and he was arrested after they arrived on scene. A loaded handgun was alleged to be in Davidson's waistband upon arrest. Tittle took Davidson's handgun from Davidson's waist and is alleged to have pointed it at Davidson's head. Tittle was soon arrested at a different bar nearby.
Shawn Dennis Davidson has been charged with Carrying a Concealed Firearm under the Influence of Alcohol and Trespassing. *
Gregory Jay Tittle has been charged with Carrying a Concealed Firearm under the Influence of Alcohol and Reckless Use of a Firearm. *
They were arraigned on May 23, 2023, in 27th District Court, and given $30,000 personal bonds with an alcohol tether. A pretrial is scheduled for June 1, 2023, at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Elizabeth DiSanto. Please request a photograph of the defendants from the Wyandotte Police Department.
*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
