Henry Ford Volunteer Girls Basketball Coach Charged
Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Kevin Orr-Mathews, 25 (DOB: 5/12/90), of Detroit, with
having inappropriate sexual contact with a 15-year-old female student. The defendant was a
volunteer girls basketball coach at Henry Ford High School in Detroit in September 2015 when he
and the 15-year-old student began contacting each other via text The young woman was not a
member of the team at the time. On September 19, 2015, at approximately 3:00 a.m., it is alleged
that the defendant drove his car to the student's home in the 18000 block of Greenlawn and had
Inappropriate sexual contact with her in his car.
Orr-Mathews has been charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct - First Degree (Any term of years u
to Life) and Criminal Sexual Contact Third Degree (15 years). He was arraigned today in 36
District Court. The defendant's probable cause conference is scheduled for October 30, 2015 at
8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for November 6, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. Both
hearings are before Judge Giles in 36th District Court.
