Wayne County Turn-Around Program Hosts Reduce the Risk Seminar
Program Aims to End Sexual Violence Through Education and Awareness
At least one in four females, and one in six males, will be sexually assaulted during their lifetime. Teenage and college-aged women have the highest rate of sexual victimization of any age group. The prevalence of sexual assault in the United States is staggering. That is why Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy initiated The Wayne County Turn-Around Program (WC TAP).
WC TAP is a working collaboration between the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office and communitybased stakeholders who acknowledge the challenges surrounding sexual violence in teens and young adults. WC TAP is dedicated to ending sexual violence in our at-risk population by providing education and awareness in our community.
On Saturday, April 20, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:30 p .m., the First Annual Reduce the Risk Seminar will be held at the Wayne County Community College located at 801 West Fort Street in Detroit. Our program, which is free of charge, is open to young adults ages 13 and up, as well as parents and educators. Refreshments have been donated. This seminar is limited to 200 attendees, so we encourage early registration.
