Wilburt Thomas - Defendant charged in connection with the July 15, 2018 fatal car crash on I-94 that killed his seven-year-old daughter. This morning Thomas pleaded guilty to Manslaughter with a sentence agreement of 4 ½ to 15 years, Child Abuse Second Degree with a sentence agreement of 4 ½ to 10 years. For the charge of Operating While Intoxicated with an Occupant under 16 years of age, Thomas will receive credit for time served as computed by the court at the sentence hearing. All of the counts are concurrent. He will be sentenced on January 24, 2019 before Judge Bridget Hathaway.

James Fleming - Defendant charged in connection with the November 13, 2018 double homicide that occurred at a senior citizen housing apartment on Dickerson in Detroit. Today Fleming was referred for a competency evaluation and the review date is scheduled for April 10, 2019 before Judge Michael Wagner in 36th District Court.

On December 22, 2018, at approximately 10:25 p.m. at a house in the 17400 block of Lumpkin it is alleged that Lackey physically assaulted his 46-year-old female domestic partner while armed with hand gun. He has been charged with Felonious Assault, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, two counts of Felony Firearm and Domestic Violence.** Arraignments will be made for the defendant to be arraigned on the warrant.

**The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Kevin Lackey - On December 22, 2018, at approximately 10:25 p.m. at a house in the 17400 block of Lumpkin it is alleged that Lackey physically assaulted his 46-year-old female domestic partner while armed with hand gun. He has been charged with Felonious Assault, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, two counts of Felony Firearm and Domestic Violence.** The defendant was arraigned today in 36th District Court on the recently charged domestic violence case 19700056-01. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for January 18, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for January 25, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Cylenthia Miller in 36th District Court. He received a $20,000/10% bond.

Juvenile Charged in Assault on Cody High School Teacher

Wayne County Prosecutor has charged a 14-year-old male juvenile student in connection with the assault and battery of a 63-year-old Cody High School teacher.

On January 10, 2019 at approximately 10:25 a.m., Detroit Police officers were dispatched to Cody High School in the 8400 block of Cathedral Street in response to a report of an assault and battery of a teacher at the school. School authorities detained the student until police officers arrived and placed him in custody. It is alleged that the juvenile struck and kicked the teacher in the classroom.

The juvenile respondent has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of Marijuana and Creating a Disturbance in School*. He is expected to have a preliminary hearing this afternoon before Magistrate Leslie Graves at the Juvenile Detention Center. An update will be sent out after the hearing.
