Fatal Stabbing at Taylor Knights of Columbus Hall - The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office is reviewing a Petition for a 16-year-old juvenile male suspect in connection with the July 7, 2019 fatal stabbing of a 17-year-old man that occurred at a graduation party. The suspect is being held in the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility. A decision in the case will be determined on July 12, 2019. Under Michigan juvenile law the prosecution may take up to five days to review the facts and evidence to make a charging decision in a homicide case.

Chelsa Wagner - Pittsburgh Controller charged with Resisting and Obstructing the Police and Disorderly Conduct. The Final Conference was held today and the defense Motion to Quash the Information was denied. The Motion to Adjust Bail was modified today by the court; the defendant no longer has to check in with the probation department via phone. A Special Pre-Trial Conference was set today by Judge Regina Thomas for October 1, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. The trial date is scheduled for November 12, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. in the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice.
Khari Mosley -Chelsa Wagner's husband will have his misdemeanor trial on July 15, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. in 36th District Court.

Khari Mosley - Judge Kenneth King will have jury selection today at 1:00 p.m. This morning, at the request of the defense, the time was changed from 9:00 a.m. due to a scheduling conflict. The misdemeanor trial in the case will begin on July 15, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. in 36th District Court.
July 9, 2019 Shooting Incident in the 7100 block of Mackenzie - WCPO has received a warrant request for a 24-year-old suspect in connection with non-fatal shooting incident involving two adult victims and two child victims. A charging decision will not occur today.
Detroit Man Charged in Romulus Sexual Assault of Senior Woman
Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Christopher Darnell Moore, 39 (DOB: 10/20/1979) of Detroit, in connection with a sexual assault of a 67-year-old woman in the City of Romulus. On June 30, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. at an apartment building located in the 11000 block of Wayne Road in Romulus, it is alleged that Moore came to the victim's door and represented that he was working for a company that assisted senior citizens. Once he was inside the apartment, it is alleged that Moore sexually assaulted the victim. Investigation by the Romulus Police resulted in the arrest of the defendant.
Moore has been charged with CSC Third Degree, which carries a 15 year maximum penalty.* He was arraigned this afternoon before 34th District Court Magistrate Lisa Martin. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for July 24, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. before Magistrate Martin; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for July 31, 2019 at 9:05 a.m. before Judge David Parrott. The defendant received a $500,000 cash bond. Please request a photograph of the defendant from the Romulus Police Department.
*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
Khari Mosley - Judge Kenneth King completed jury selection late this afternoon. He informed the parties that he has decided that the trial will not begin on July 15, 2019. It will now begin tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. in 36th District Court.

July 9, 2019 Shooting Incident in the 7100 block of Mackenzie - WCPO has received a warrant request for a 24-year-old suspect in connection with non-fatal shooting incident involving two adult victims and two child victims. There will not be an arraignment today. It is anticipated that a charging decision and arraignment will occur tomorrow in 36th District Court.
Khari Mosley - The misdemeanor trial is currently in progress and will continue tomorrow July 12, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in 36th District Court before Judge Kenneth King.

Detroit Man Charged with First Degree Murder, Assault with Intent to Murder
and Felony Firearm in LGBTQ Killing
DETROIT - July 12, 2019 - Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy, with the assistance of the Fair Michigan Justice Project (FMJP), has charged Demetris* Nelson, 26 (DOB: 03/25/1993), of Detroit, in connection with the murder and assault of two gay Detroit men. Prosecutors charged Nelson with one count each of First Degree Murder, Felony Murder, Assault, with Intent to Murder, Assault with the Intent to Rob While Armed, and four counts Felony Firearm.** Nelson is expected to be arraigned today after 10:30 a.m. in 36th District Court. Nelson was arraigned this morning before 36th District Court Magistrate Jeffrey Kleparek. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for July 26, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for August 2, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. Both hearings are before Judge Ronald Giles in 36th District Court. Detroit Man Charged in Non-Fatal Shooting
of Two Adults and Assault on Two Children
Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Daryl Michael Edwards, 24 (DOB: 11/23/1994), of Detroit, in connection with the non-fatal shootings of a 39-year-old man, his 29-year-old female friend, as well as assaults on her eight-year-old son and her three-year-old daughter that she and Edwards have in common. The woman's 11-year-old son was in the home at the time of the attacks, but he was able to escape.
On July 9, 2019 at approximately 5:01 a.m., police were dispatched to a house in the 7190 block of Mackenzie Street. When they entered the home, they observed a man and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. They also observed a young boy suffering from stab wounds to his ear and hand. Edward's toddler daughter had an injury to her nose. The 11-year-old boy who was in the home escaped and called the police for help. It is alleged that Edwards shot the adult male victim multiple times and shot the female victim in head. It is further alleged that he cut the young boy with a knife and hit his daughter, causing injuries to her face. The victims were all transported to a local hospital for treatment of their wounds. he defendant fled the location on foot and was later arrested by the Detroit Police Department on July 10th, 2019.
Edwards has been charged with: three counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, two counts each of Home Invasion, Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm and Felony Firearm.* He was arraigned today before 36th District Court Magistrate Millicent Sherman. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for July 19, 2019; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for July 26, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Lynise Bryant in 36th District Court. The defendant was remanded to jail.
Prosecutor Kym Worthy said, "The allegations in this case are unsettling because, in this defendant's world, being rejected meant that his ex-girlfriend and her male friend should be violently assaulted. And if there were children in the vicinity - even if one of them was his own child - so be it. Beyond tragic."

Detroit Woman Charged in Double Fatal Car Crash
at Chalmers and Franklin Streets
Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Markia Pitts, 22 (DOB: 08/01/1996), of Detroit, in connection with a car crash that killed a 31-year-old woman and 34-year-old man. On July 9, 2019 at 3:50 p.m., the defendant was driving a white sedan in the area of East Outer Drive. It is alleged that while making an improper turn, she was struck by a black sedan, driven by a woman. When the defendant failed to stop after the accident, the black car followed her and attempted to signal the defendant to pull over.
The defendant failed to pull over and, at Franklin and Chalmers Streets, it is alleged that she drove at a high rate of speed, disregarded a stop sign, and crashed into a blue sedan. The blue car was driven by a 34-year-old man, with a 31-year-old woman in the front passenger seat and a man in the rear passenger seat. All of the victims are from Detroit. Detroit EMS and Universal Medics arrived on the scene and the victims were transported to a local hospital. The driver and the woman in the front passenger seat were pronounced deceased at the hospital. The rear passenger survived but sustained several serious injuries as a result of the crash.
Pitts has been charged with: two counts of Reckless Driving Causing Death, one count of Reckless Driving Causing Serious Impairment of a Bodily Function, and one count of Failure to Stop at Scene of Property Damage Accident.* She was arraigned this afternoon in 36th District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for July 19, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for July 26, 2019. The defendant was remanded to jail. Two Detroit Men Charged with First Degree Murder, Carjacking, Unlawful Imprisonment\
and Felony Firearm in Killing of Gay Man
DETROIT - July 13, 2019 - Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy, with the assistance of the Fair Michigan Justice Project (FMJP), has charged Anthony Brock, 28 (DOB: 8/17/1990), and Darnell Wilson, 30 (DOB: 9/30/1988), both of Detroit, with first-degree murder and other crimes in the killing of Diano Johnson, a gay Detroit man. Prosecutors charged Brock and Wilson with one count each of First Degree Murder, Felony Murder, Armed Robbery, Carjacking, Unlawful Imprisonment, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and six counts Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.* Brock was also charged with Arson, for allegedly setting Johnson's car on fire. The defendants are expected to be arraigned today after 11:00 a.m. in 34th District Court in Romulus.
