Ivory Traylor - Detroit man alleged to have resisted arrest and opened fire on two police officers at Jefferson and Dubois on May 17, 2018. On Friday, May 25, 2018, Traylor cut his GPS tether device and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest. On May 26th he was apprehended by the police. Today he was arraigned on the arrest warrant and remanded to jail. His final conference is now scheduled for Monday, June 4, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Margaret Van Houten.

Robert Bashara - Grosse Pointe Park defendant convicted in the murder of his wife Jane Bashara. On May 29, 2018, Defendant Bashara's Leave to Appeal was denied by the Michigan Supreme Court. The Court was not persuaded that the issues presented by the defendant merited review. See order attached.

Timothy Leach and Frederick Person - The probable cause conferences were held today. The preliminary examinations are scheduled for August 3, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Deborah Lewis Langston in 36th District Court. Leach received a $50,000/10% bond; Person received a $25,000 personal bond. Today the court ordered the defendants not to have contact with witnesses as a condition of bond.

Taylor Coupled Charged in Overdose Death of Their 10-Month-Old Great-Grandson

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Rebecca Ann May, 52 (DOB: 03/23/1966) and Quentin Roosevelt May, 65, (DOB: 12/23/1952), both of Taylor, in connection with the death of their 10-month-old infant great-grandson, Du'Wan Lanhan.

On October 5, 2017 at approximately 3:24 p.m., Taylor Police and Fire Department responded to a 911 call for assistant for a baby not breathing at a residence in the 5800 block of Wilkie Street in Taylor, MI. Upon arrival, the officers and fire department personnel discovered an infant on the floor while CPR was administered by a neighbor. Medics transported the infant to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. It was determined that the infant died from fatal ingestion of a drugs prescribed to his great-grandparents.

It is alleged that the defendants failed to store and/or maintain their medications in a safe manner, which resulted in Du'Wan's death. It is also alleged that the defendants failed to provide a safe environment for their great-grandson.

The defendants have been charged with one count of Involuntary Manslaughter and one count of Child Abuse Second Degree*. Both defendants were arraigned in 23rd District Court today. Rebecca May received a $50,000 cash bond and Quentin May received a $250,000 cash bond. Their probable cause conference is scheduled on June 11, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.; their preliminary examination is scheduled for June 18, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.

Defendants Shawnta Anderson and Eboni Mcewen-Ross - The defendants were sentenced today in November 1, 2017 homicide of O'Reilly Auto Parts manager James Haller. Shawnta Anderson was sentenced to 30 to 60 years for Second Degree Murder and two years consecutive for Felony Firearm. McEwen- Ross was sentenced to 21 to 50 years for Second Degree Murder. Co-Defendant Leviticus Butler was sentenced on March 7, 2018 to two and a half years probation as an Accessory After the Fact.

Darius Jackson - Defendant who is charged with sexual assault and armed robbery of a 61-year-old woman in the Detroit Opera House parking garage. Today he competency review for Jackson was adjourned because the reports have not been received by the court. The new date is scheduled for June 15, 2018 at 9:00 a..m.

Six Detroit Defendants Charged in Marijuana Bust

On May 29, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at a location in the 4400 block of West Jefferson, Detroit Police Officers executed a search warrant that led to the seizure of over 1000 marijuana plants connected to a major marijuana operation. Six people were arrested at the scene for their alleged involvement with the operation: Cotea Jones, 53, (DOB:06/29/1964), Jeanne Walsh, 37, (DOB:05/09/1981), Curtis Williams, 36, (DOB:12/12/1981), Travis Davison, 27, (DOB:06/26/1990), James Frazier, 32, (DOB:05/29/1986) and Jabari Currie, 31, (DOB:03/04/1987), all of Detroit. This case remains under investigation; no further facts will be provided at this time.

Today all of the defendants have been charged with - Controlled Substance - Delivery/Manufacture of 45 Kilograms or More of Marijuana/Synthetic Equivalent; or 200 or More Plants, a felony with a penalty of up to 15 years in prison.*

Defendants Jones, Williams, Davison and Frazier have additionally been charged with Conspiracy to Commit Controlled Substance-Delivery/Manufacture 45 Kilograms or More of Marijuana/Synthetic Equivalent; or 200 or More Plants, a felony with a 15 year maximum penalty.*

They were arraigned this morning in 36th District Court. All of the defendants received $15,000 personal bonds. They will have their Probable Cause Conference on June 11, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. and their Preliminary Examination ion June 18, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Kenneth King in 36th District Court.

St. Clair Shores Man Charged in MGM Casino Case

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Daniel Scott Michalak, 33, (DOB: 05/16/1985) of St. Clair Shores, in connection with the death of his girlfriend Tia Marie Vellucci, 27, of Davison, Michigan. On May 29, 2018 at approximately 12:49 p.m. at the MGM Grand Casino, hotel security, along with Detroit police officers, received information that led them to check hotel room 408. Upon entry they found the lifeless body of Ms. Vellucci lying on the floor with multiple stab wounds and a bite wound to her nose. It is alleged that Michalak is responsible for the death of the victim.

At this time the case remains under investigation awaiting the Wayne County Medical Examiner's report and other forensic testing. Michalak has been charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault with Intent to Maim, and Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm.* Michalak was arraigned in 36th District Court and remanded to jail this afternoon. His Probable Cause Hearing is on June 15, 2018 and his Preliminary Examination is on June 22, 2018. Both hearings are before Judge William McConico in 36th District Court.

Detroit Woman Charged in Overdose Death Of Her Eight-Year-Old Grandson

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Gail Townsend-Finley, 59 (DOB: 05/31/1958), of Detroit, in connection with the death of her eight-year-old grandson, Jamere Arnold.

On July 5, 2017 at approximately 11:10 p.m., Detroit Fire Department medics were dispatched to a residence in the 19900 block of Conley Street in Detroit in response to a 911 call for a child not breathing. The medics transported the child to a local hospital for treatment, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. It was determined that the child died from fatal ingestion of Fentanyl at the residence.

It is alleged that the defendant left drugs accessible to her grandson, which resulted in Jamere's death. It is also alleged that the defendant failed to provide a safe environment for her grandson. She has been charged with one count of Involuntary Manslaughter and one count of Child Abuse Second Degree*.

Today Townsend-Finley was arraigned in 36th District Court and received a $50,000/10% bond. The probable cause conference is scheduled for June 15, 2018 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for June 22, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Kenneth King in 36th District Court.
