William Melendez - Former Inkster officer on trial in connection with the assault on Floyd Dent. After a 12 day jury trial before Judge Vonda Evans, today the jury came back with a verdict of guilty of Misconduct in Office (five year maximum penalty) and guilty of Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm Less than Murder (10 year maximum penalty). He was found not guilty of Assault by Strangulation (10 year maximum penalty). On November 19, 2015, the defendant was remanded to jail. His sentence date was recently changed by the court from December 3rd and now will be held on December 4, 2015 at 9:00 a.m.

Michael Montgomery - The defendant's preliminary examination was held and he was bound over on the two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct First Degree and Kidnapping of a female victim that occurred on December 23, 2005 in Detroit. Yesterday his preliminary examination was held and he was bound over on a January 1, 2006 sexual assault and fatal stabbing of a 16-year-old woman. He also was bound over on a violent assault of two EMS workers on Third Street in Detroit. The arraignment on the information for the three cases will be held on December 7, 2015 in Wayne County Third Circuit Court - Criminal Division.

Robert Bashara - The Post Conviction Evidentiary Hearing has been changed by the court from December 4, 2015 until February 11, 2016.

Dionte Travis - Today Defendant Travis was found guilty of Felony Murder by a jury in the homicide of French street artist Bilal Berrini. He will be sentenced on December 17, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Bruce Morrow.

Fatal Dog Mauling Case -We have not received a warrant request in this case. An update will be sent out when it is received.
George Stewart - The 17-year-old man accused of murdering his 91-year-old neighbor. The probable cause hearing was held before Judge Kenneth King this morning. The preliminary examination was moved up from December 10, 2015 to December 9, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. due to a conflict in defense counsel's schedule.

Man Charged in Total Armored Car Case
Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Charles Samuel Smith, 33 (DOB: 1/7/82), of Southfield, in connection with the theft of money from a Total Armored Car truck. On December 1, 2015 at approximately 6:15 p.m., Smith was employed by the Total Armored Truck Company and took a bag containing $20,000 to his work truck and then took the money to his personal vehicle, without permission. The theft was immediately discovered by employees of the company. The Detroit Police Department was called to the scene and the defendant was arrested.
Smith has been charged with Embezzlement over $20,000-$50,000, Larceny by Conversion of $20,000 or more, Larceny of $20,000 or more, Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property over $20,000, Larceny in a Building and Felony Firearm. He is expected to be arraigned at 10:30 a.m. this morning in 36th District Court. Please confirm he arraignment time with the court.
