Detroit Woman Charged with Filing a False Report of a Child Abduction
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Domanique Marie Rezende, 32 (DOB: 07/09/1986) of Detroit, in connection with filing a false report of a child abduction.
On April 13, 2019 at approximately 2:30 p.m., Rezende drove her mother's vehicle to a location in the 15600 block of Joy Road. It is alleged that the defendant exited the vehicle with the keys left in the ignition and the vehicle running. While inside the store, Rezende noticed the vehicle pulling off. Detroit Police were dispatched to the scene and, it is alleged, Rezende stated her four-year-old son was in the vehicle at the time it was stolen. Detroit Police investigated and found the child in the care of his grandmother. Rezende was arrested at the scene of the car theft. Further facts and evidence in the case will be presented at the Preliminary Examination.
Rezende has been charged with False Report of a Child Abduction.* She was arraigned this afternoon before 36th District Court Magistrate Dawn M. White. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for April 23, 2019 before Judge Cylenthia Miller in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $7,500/10% bond. Please request a photograph of the defendant from the Detroit Police Department.
*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
