Detroit Man Charged in Fatal Car Crash at
Puritan Avenue and Lindsay Street

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Malcolm Lewis Davis, 60, (DOB: 04/15/1959), of Detroit, in connection with a fatal hit and run car crash that killed Gerald Massey, 41, of Detroit.

On April 9, 2019 at approximately 12:14 a.m., Davis was driving his vehicle westbound on Puritan Avenue at Lindsay Street in Detroit. It is alleged that Davis disregarded a stop sign and the victim, traveling on a motorcycle northbound on Lindsay, struck the vehicle. It is alleged that the defendant fled the scene in the vehicle. Police and EMS arrived at the scene. Medics transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment, where he was pronounced dead. Investigation by the Detroit Police led to the arrest of the defendant.

Davis has been charged with Failure to Stop at the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Serious Impairment/Death, a five year felony.* He is was arraigned this afternoon before 36th District Court Magistrate Millicent Sherman. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for May 1, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for May 7, 2019 before Judge William McConico.
