Detroit Gas Thieves Charged

On July 11, 2018 Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Damon Blocker, 29 (DOB: 05/19/1989), and Reginald Hollien, 34 (DOB: 08/07/83), both of Detroit, in connection with stealing gas from a Detroit gas station. On June 23, 2018 at approximately 12:50 p.m. and at 2:30 p.m., it is alleged that the defendants stole approximately 600 gallons of gasoline from a pump at a Marathon station located in the 17800 block of Seven Mile Road. While still at the gas station, the defendants sold and accepted cash for the gas. Once this was discovered, the attendants at the station attempted to disable the pump by computer. The attempt was unsuccessful and eventually the attendants had to activate an emergency shut off, disabling all of the pumps at the station. The defendants left the station and the police were called. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department resulted in the arrest of the defendants on July 9, 2018.

Defendants Blocker and Hollien are charged with: Use of a Computer to Commit a Crime; Organized Retail Crime and Larceny $1,000-$20,000*.

Prosecutor Worthy said, "The alleged actions of these defendants show a critical need for the protection of businesses in Wayne County. We must ensure that businesses in this County are fully supported and protected."

Both defendants were arraigned late in the afternoon on Wednesday, July 11, 2018. Blocker received a $75,000/10% bond and Hollien received a $50,000/10% bond. The probable cause conference date is July 18, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Dana M. Hathaway in 36th District Court.
