Three Women Charged in August Vehicular Homicide
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Destiny Grace Easterling 19, (DOB: 01/31/1999), Charlie Desharon-Marlene Wooten, 20, (DOB: 04/12/1998) and Teriana Alane Hicks, 20 (DOB: 10/02/1998), all of Detroit, in connection with the homicide of Destiny Lanee Parks, 19, also of Detroit.
On August 11, 2018 at approximately 3:15 p.m., Detroit Police officers were dispatched to the 15700 block of Hubbell Avenue near Midland Street in Detroit in response to an assault with a vehicle.
Upon arrival, the officers discovered the lifeless body of Destiny Parks on Midland Street, near Strathmoor Street. It is alleged that the defendants were engaged in an ongoing argument with the victim via social media. The argument escalated and the defendants drove over to the victim's house on Hubbell Avenue near Midland Street to fight. It is also alleged that the verbal argument continued and Easterling drove a vehicle toward a friend of the victim. The vehicle hit the curb, struck the victim, who landed on the hood of the vehicle. It is further alleged that when the defendant stopped the car, the victim fell off the hood and the defendant ran over the victim before fleeing the scene. Medics arrived and pronounced her dead at the scene.
Defendant Easterling has been charged with Murder - First Degree.* She was arraigned on October 23, 2018 before 36th District Court Magistrate Dawn M. White. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for November 5, 2018 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for November 12, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Both hearings are before Judge Deborah Lewis Langston in 36th District Court. The defendant was remanded to jail.
Defendant Wooten has been charged with Tampering with Evidence.* She was arraigned on October 30, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. before 36th District Court Magistrate Millicent Sherman. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for November 6, 2018 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for November 13, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Deborah Lewis Langston in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $25,000/10% bond.
Defendant Hicks has been charged with Murder - Second Degree.* She was arraigned this afternoon at 2:30 p.m. before 36th District Court Magistrate Dawn M. White. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for November 8, 2018 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for November 14, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Deborah Lewis Langston in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $1 million dollar cash/surety bond.
*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
