On May 6, 2022, Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Keaton Imanuel Crowder, 28, (DOB: 09/30/1993), of Ann Arbor, and Kiarra Christa Crowder, 30, (DOB: 09/28/1991), of Taylor, in connection with the non-fatal shooting of Kiarra Crowder's four-year-old son.

On May 3, 2022, at approximately 6:30 p.m., at a residence in the 15667 block of Court Village Lane in Taylor, it is alleged that Keaton Crowder was handling a shotgun and it accidentally fired, going through the floor, and striking the child, non-fatally wounding him. The child was privately transported to a local hospital for treatment. It is also alleged that the defendants provided a false account of the incident during their initial encounter with police.

Keaton Imanuel Crowder has been charged with one count of False Report of a Felony and one count of Careless Discharge Causing Injury. *

Kiarra Christa Crowder has been charged with one count of False Report of a Felony. *

They were arraigned on May 6, 2022, in 23rd District Court. Both defendants were given a $15,000 cash bond. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for May 16, 2022, at 1:30 p.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for May 23, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. before Judge Joseph Slaven.
