Three Charged In Death Of Detroit Firefighter David Madrigal
Today Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged three defendants in connection with the homicide of Detroit Firefighter David Madrigal, 59, of Detroit. On the evening of December 19, 2015, it is alleged that Timmy Lynn Soto, 32 (DOB: 11/3/83), of Detroit, Nicole Oneill, 33 (DOB: 5/19/82), of Detroit, and Christian Rasnick, 19 (DOB: 7/15/96), of Trenton, went to the victim's home on Vaughan Street and robbed, killed, and stole personal property from the victim. It is also alleged that the victim's vehicle was driven to an alley near the 3800 block of Bangor by Defendants Soto and Resnick and was set on fire. The car was discovered on December 19, 2015 at approximately 6:56 p.m. on Bangor when the Detroit Fire Department responded to the fire.
On December 21, 2015 at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Detroit Police Department responded to a call from a relative, who went over to check on the victim and discovered his lifeless body. The relative also observed that the house was ransacked. The medical examiner determined that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head. The details of the case will be presented in court at the preliminary examination.
Timmy Lynn Soto, Nicole Oneill, and Christian Rasnick, have each been charged with: Felony Murder; Armed Robbery, Larceny in a Building, and Arson - Third Degree. Soto also been charged with Unlawful Driving Away of an Automobile, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Felony Firearm. Rasnick has an additional charge of Unlawful Driving Away of an Automobile.
Prosecutor Worthy said, "It is very sad that a 26-year veteran of the Detroit Fire Department was murdered. We are glad to report that because of the tireless work of DPD homicide officers we are able to issue charges today."
The defendants have been arraigned. The Probable Cause Conference for all three defendants is scheduled for March 23, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. The Preliminary Examination has been scheduled for March 30, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. Both hearings are before Judge King in 36th District Court.
