The Wayne County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management is responsible for the protection and prevention of terrorist activities and the response and recovery of disasters in Wayne County. The Director, Deputy Director and the staff of this department work daily to implement a regional strategy and coordinate with our counterparts throughout Southeastern Michigan to deliver the information and resources that the first responder community needs to respond to incidents that confront us.
In Wayne County we work with the Federal, State and Local Homeland Security partners to make sure we have the most efficient and effective operations. The ability to have information sharing, interoperable communications, similar equipment, coordinated training and exercising will best serve the public in its fight against terrorism.
We continue to provide a county wide alerting system to provide information to the public in the event of a manmade or natural disaster. The ability to get correct information to the public will help save lives and protect property.
