On December 22, 2021 Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Malikk Cameron Williams, 22, (DOB:04/01/1999), Gregory Freeman, 19, (DOB:10/24/2002), Christion Bernard White, 22, (DOB:08/16/1999), and Kevin Bernard White, 27, (DOB: 02/19/1994), all of Detroit, in connection with the fatal shooting of Wayne County Sheriff Deputy Devante Jones, 23, also of Detroit.

On September 20, 2021, at approximately 4:12 a.m., it is alleged that multiple shots were fired in the parking lot of the Diggs projects located in the 1040 block of East Forest Avenue in Detroit, striking the victim. Mr. Jones was privately transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. More complete facts and evidence will be placed on the record in court at the Preliminary Examination.

Malikk Cameron Williams, Gregory Freeman, Christion Bernard White, and Kevin Bernard White have been charged with one count of First-Degree Murder and one count of Felony Firearm. *

Defendants Williams, Freeman, and Kevin White were arraigned and remanded to jail on December 23, 2021. The Probable Cause Conferences were adjourned to January 13, 2022, so that Defendant Christopher White's Probable Cause Conference would be on the same date. Christopher White was not in custody at the time the warrant was authorized. On December 29, 2021, he was arraigned and remanded to jail. His Probable Cause Conference will also be held on January 13, 2022 in 36th District Court before Judge Kenneth King.
