The 3rd Annual Juneteenth Heritage Day will take place on Saturday, June 22, 2024 from Noon - 4:00 PM at Nankin Mills Park in Westland.

The theme for the 2024 event is CELEBRATING FAMILY & FREEDOM!

This free event is presented by the Huron -Clinton Metroparks and Wayne County Parks.

Activities will include:
  • Performances by the DStarks Family & Friends Choir
  • Dr. Khalid el-Hakim from the Black History 101 Mobile Museum
  • Historical Reenactment of General Order No. 3
  • Musical Performance by award winning Rev. Robert Jones, Sr.
  • African Drum & Dance performance with audience participation by Heritage Works and Bese Saka Cultural Arts
  • Inflatables
  • Food Trucks
  • Photo Booth
  • Make and Take Photo Frame
  • Double Dutch Demos
  • Jacks & Marbles
  • Selfies and Autographs from Negro League Player Ron Teasley
  • Large Lawn Games
  • Guided Hikes at 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM
  • Huron-Clinton Mobile Learning Center
  • Schools to Tools Outreach Truck
Nankin Mills Park is located at 33275 Edward Hines Drive in Westland. The entrance is off Ann Arbor Trail and you will need to go around the first set of barricades to get to the parking area.
