Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Anthony Deshawn Sneed,15, of Clinton Township, in connection with the fatal shooting of Tasneen Sherrod, 42, and the non-fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy, both of Detroit. Defendant Sneed will be waived and tried as an adult defendant.

On September 4, 2024, at approximately 8:10 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 18100 block of Runyon Street for a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, officers located both victims outside of the residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Medics arrived on the scene and transported both victims to a local hospital for treatment. Ms. Sherrod succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.

It is alleged that during a physical altercation, Defendant Sneed robbed the 15-year-old victim of a handgun. It is further alleged that Defendant Sneed fired a handgun multiple times, fatally wounding Ms. Sherrod, and non-fatally wounding the 15-year-old victim, before fleeing the scene. Defendant Sneed turned himself in at the Sixth Precinct of the Detroit Police Department on September 5, 2024.

Anthony Deshawn Sneed has been charged with Felony Murder - Juvenile Defendant, Second-Degree Murder, Assault with Intent to Murder, Armed Robbery, and four counts of Felony Firearm.*

He was arraigned and remanded to jail this afternoon in 36th District Court before Magistrate Dawn White. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for September 18, 2024, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for September 25, 2024, at 1:45 p.m., before Judge Kenneth King.
