Dearborn Heights Man Charged in Murder of Stepbrother
Today Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Jalen Gullatt, 21 (DOB: 05/21/1999), in connection with the homicide of his stepbrother Jeffrey Steen, 23, both of Dearborn Heights. Earlier in the day on January 17, 2021, the stepbrothers got into an argument at a basketball game. The argument continued later in their home located in the 27090 block of Clairview in Dearborn Heights. The verbal argument turned physical in a main floor bedroom where it is alleged that Gullatt fired a handgun multiple times, fatally striking Steen. Shortly after the shooting Gullatt fled from the home and 911 was called on the same day at 10:15 pm. Medics trandsported Steen to a local hosputal by medics where he later succumbed to his wounds.

Defendant Gullatt has been charged with First Degree Murder and Felony Firearm.* He was arraigned today in 20th District Couty in Dearborn Heights and was remanded to jail. His Probable Cause conference is on February 3, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. Please request a photograph of the defendant from the Dearborn Heights Police Department.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
