On December 14, 2024, Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Raymonte Darrell Adams, 19, of Detroit, in connection with the assault of a Detroit police officer that led to an officer involved shooting.

On December 10, 2024, at approximately 11: 41 p.m., in the 19300 block of Saint Mary's Street in Detroit, Detroit police officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the defendant's vehicle. During the traffic stop, it is alleged that Defendant Adams drove towards the officers in an attempt to flee from the traffic stop. Officers discharged their firearms, striking the defendant multiple times. While fleeing the scene, it is further alleged that Defendant Adams struck an officer with his vehicle.

A short time later, Officers located Defendant Adams lying in the road in the 19400 block of Rutherford Street suffering from gunshot wounds. Medics arrived on the scene and transported the defendant to a local hospital for treatment.

Raymonte Darrell Adams has been charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Fleeing and Eluding - Third Degree, and Resisting and Obstructing a Police Officer.*

He was arraigned on December 14, 2024, in 36th District Court and given a $500,000 cash bond with a GPS tether. On December 16, 2024, at the bond re-determination hearing, Judge Larry Williams reduced the defendant's bond to a $500,000 personal bond with house arrest. On January 15, 2025, at the Preliminary Examination, before Judge Ronald Giles, Defendant Adams' bond was increased to $250,000/10% with house arrest and the defendant was bound over as charged.

On January 22, 2025, the defendant was arraigned on the information before Judge Bradley Cobb in third Circuit Court. His next court date is on March 14, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., before Judge Cobb.. Please request a photograph of the defendant from the Michigan State Police.
