Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged KeJuan David Deshaun Hedwood, 20, of Detroit, in connection with the fatal stabbing of Gregory Gibson, 32, also of Detroit.

On July 16, 2024, at approximately 3:43 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a gas station in the 17800 block of West McNichols Road for a reported stabbing. Upon their arrival, officers observed the victim inside of the gas station store suffering from a stab wound to the upper chest. Medics arrived on the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was produced deceased.

It is alleged that a verbal altercation between the defendant and the victim escalated, and Defendant Hedwood produced a pocketknife and stabbed Mr. Gibson in the chest, fatally wounding him. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of Defendant Hedwood on July 30, 2024.

KeJuan David Deshaun Hedwood has been charged with First-Degree Murder.*

He was arraigned this afternoon in 36th District Court, before Magistrate William Burton and given a $1,000,000 cash/surety bond with a GPS tether. A bond redetermination hearing is scheduled for August 5, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., before Judge William McConico. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for August 13, 2024, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for August 19, 2024, at 1:45 p.m. before Judge Kenneth King.
