Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Gary Lansky, 73, of Detroit. In connection with the assault of a seven-year-old girl, also of Detroit.

On October 8, 2024, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a residence on Stahelin Avenue for a reported stabbing. Upon their arrival, officers located the victim with a laceration to her throat being treated by medics.

It is alleged that at a park in the 5800 block of Greenview Avenue in Detroit, Defendant Lansky approached the victim and cut her throat with a knife before fleeing the scene. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of the defendant later the same day.

Gary Lanksy has been charged with Assault with Intent to Murder and Felonious Assault.*

He was arraigned on the afternoon of October 10, 2024, in 36th District Court before Magistrate Malaika Ramsey-Heath and given a $2 million cash/surety bond with a GPS tether and house arrest. A bond re-determination hearing is scheduled for October 14, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., before Judge Willliam McConico. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for October 16, 2024, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for October 23, 2024, at 8:45 a.m., before Judge Aliyah Sabree.
