Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Enajee Iakiem Moore, 26, of Detroit, in connection with a car crash that killed Thurston Alexander, 68, also of Detroit.

On April 11, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Detroit police officers were around Puritan Street and Coyle Street, when they observed that the defendant's vehicle had improper plates. When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, it is alleged that Defendant Moore fled from the scene at a high rate of speed. Officers pursued the defendant's vehicle to the intersection of Puritan Street and Murray Hill Street where it is alleged that Defendant Moore collided into the driver's side of Mr. Alexander's vehicle. The impact from the crash ejected Mr. Alexander from his vehicle, fatally injuring him. It is further alleged that Defendant Moore exited his vehicle and fled from the scene on foot. After a brief foot chase, officers were able to apprehend the defendant.

Enajee Iakiem Moore has been charged with Second-Degree Murder, Reckless Driving Causing Death, and First-Degree Fleeing.*

He was arraigned and remanded to jail this afternoon in 36th District Court before Magistrate Joseph Boyer. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for April 24, 2025, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for May 1, 2025, at 1:45 p.m., before Judge Shawn Jacque. Please request a photograph of the defendant from the Detroit Police Department.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
