Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Virgil Dan Brown, 22, of Detroit, in connection with the fatal shooting of Ms. Jevon Miller, 19, and the non-fatal shooting of their three-year-old son. Ms. Miller was the girlfriend of the defendant. The defendant and victim were residing together at the time of the incident.

On May 30, 2024, at approximately 6:44 a.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to the area of Whitcomb and Tireman for a reported shooting. Medics arrived on the scene and pronounced Ms. Miller deceased. The three-year-old victim was transported to a local hospital where he continues to receive treatment.

It is alleged that a verbal altercation between the defendant and the victim escalated, and Defendant Brown produced and fired a handgun, fatally wounding Ms. Miller and non-fatally wounding their three-year-old son.

Virgil Dan Brown has been charged with First-Degree Murder, Assault with Intent to Murder, Second-Degree Child Abuse, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and three counts of Felony Firearm.*
