Detroit Woman Charged in Police Chase and Fatal Crash
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Aaliyah Daz Jhanay Renee Glenn, 23, of Detroit, in connection with a police chase that resulted in a car crash that killed MD Sujon Miah, 37, of Sterling Heights, and his father, MD Nur Mia, 73, of Warren.
On October 10, 2024, at approximately 12:51 p.m., Hamtramck police officers conducted a traffic stop on the defendant's vehicle at a gas station in the 9200 block of Conant. It is alleged that Defendant Glenn fled from officers at a high rate of speed, disregarded a traffic light, and drove through the intersection of Conant and East McNichols in Detroit, where she crashed into the victims' vehicle. Medics arrived on the scene and pronounced Mr. Miah deceased. The other occupant of the vehicle, Mr. Mia, was transported to a local hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased later the same day.
Aaliyah Daz Jhanay Renee Glenn has been charged with two counts of Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer, two counts of Reckless Driving, two counts of Driving While License Suspended, Revoked, or Denied - Causing Death, and two counts of Resisting and Obstructing a Police Officer - Causing Injury.*
She was arraigned on October 13, 2024, in 36th District Court and given a $500,000 personal bond with a GPS tether and house arrest. She was also ordered not to drive. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for October 21, 2024, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for October 28, 2024, at 8:45 a.m., before Judge Aliyah Sabree.
