Four Charged in Shooting of Seven at Detroit Party
Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Johnny Lee Marsh III, 25, Eladeo Javier-Antonio Garcia, 22, Alfonso Anaya, 18, all of Detroit, and Amber Renee-Sue McIntee, 21, of Lincoln Park, in connection with the fatal shootings of a 15-year-old boy, of Detroit, and Gage Schmaltz, 19, of Southgate, and the non-fatal shootings of a 16-year-old male, of Pontiac, two 17-year-old males, of Pontiac,an 18-year-old woman, of Detroit, and an 18-year-old man, of Pontiac.
On November 3, 2024, at approximately 1:34 a.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 6300 block of Devereaux Street for a reported block party/large gathering.
Upon their arrival, officers observed multiple gunshots being fired from a vehicle into a crowd of people, before fleeing the scene. Officers pursued the vehicle to the intersection of Gilbert Street and Devereaux Street where it is alleged that the defendants exited the vehicle and fled from the scene on foot. After a brief foot chase, officers apprehended Defendant Garcia and Defendant Marsh. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of Defendant Anaya and Defendant McIntee on November 6, 2024.
It is alleged that a verbal altercation escalated, and the defendants produced and fired handguns into the crowd, striking Mr. Schmaltz and the 15-year-old victim in the head, the 16-year-old victim in the face, the first 17-year-old victim in the chest and arm, the second 17-year-old victim in the face, the 18-year-old female victim in the right leg, and the 18-year-old male victim in the face, chest, and back. It is also alleged that Defendant McIntee failed to tell the truth to officers investigating the case.
Medics arrived on the scene and pronounced the 15-year-old victim deceased. Medics transported Mr. Schmaltz, the first 17-year-old victim, the 18-year-old female victim, and the 18-year-old male victim to a local hospital for treatment for their injuries. The 16-year-old victim and the second 17-year-old victim were privately transported to a local hospital for treatment for their injuries. Mr. Schmaltz succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased later the same day.
Johnny Lee Marsh III and Eladeo Javier-Antonio Garcia have been charged with two counts of First-Degree Murder, four counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, two counts of Discharge from a Motor Vehicle Causing Death, five count of Discharge from a Motor Vehicle Causing Injury, one count of Carrying a Concealed Weapon, 14 counts of Felony Firearm, and one count of Resting and Obstructing a Police Officer.*
Alfonso Anaya has been charged with two counts of First-Degree Murder, four counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, two counts of Discharge from a Motor Vehicle Causing Death, five count of Discharge from a Motor Vehicle Causing Injury, one count of Carrying a Concealed Weapon, 14 counts of Felony Firearm, one count of Resting and Obstructing a Police Officer, and one count of Third-Degree Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer.*
Amber Renee-Sue McIntee has been charged with Tampering with Evidence and Lying to a Peace Officer During a Violent Crime Investigation.*
They were arraigned on November 9, 2024, in 36th District Court before Magistrate Malaika Ramsey-Heath. Defendants Marsh, Garcia, and Anaya were remanded to jail. Defendant McIntee was given a $75,000 personal bond. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for November 19, 2024, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for November 26, 2024, at 8:45 a.m., before Judge Aliyah Sabree.
