Inkster Man Charged in Romulus Fatal Shooting
Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Christopher Demitrius Peterson, 24, of Inkster, in connection with the fatal shooting of Dante Carey, 49, of Romulus.
On July 3, 2024, at approximately 10:17 p.m., Romulus police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 30100 block of Jamestown Street for a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, officers located the victim unresponsive suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Medics arrived on the scene and transported Mr. Carey to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
It is alleged that a verbal altercation between the defendant and the victim escalated, and Defendant Peterson produced and fired a handgun, fatally wounding Mr. Carey.
Christopher Demetrius Peterson has been charged with Second-Degree Murder and Felony Firearm.*
He was arraigned today in 34th District Court and given a $250,000 cash bond. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for July 17, 2024, at 8:30 a.m., before Judge Brian Oakley. Please request a photograph of the defendant from the Romulus Police Department.
