Ecorse Mother Charged with Child Abuse of 13-month-old Son

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Lisa Marie Reed, 34 (DOB: 11/10/1985), of Ecorse, in connection with the physical abuse of Zion Michael Reed, Defendant Reed's 13-month old son.

On July 28, 2020 at approximately 8:06 a.m., Ecorse police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 3900 block of 7^th Street in response to a child abuse call. Zyaire Reed was pronounced deceased, and Zion Reed survived and is continuing to receive treatment for his injuries. It is alleged that the defendant physically abused her son, Zion Reed. The investigation of a male suspect in connection with the child abuse case is ongoing.

No further details will be released at this time due to the ongoing homicide investigation into the death of Zyaire Reed.

The defendant has been charged with Child Abuse First Degree in connection with victim Zion Reed.* This is a felony punishable by life imprisonment or any term of years.

She was arraigned and remanded to jail this afternoon in 25th District Court in Ecorse. Her Probable Cause Conference is on August 11, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge David Zelenak.
